The piecemeal release of ACC basketball conference opponents in 2012-13 (and in some cases, tentative dates) has finally reached the point where every single-game opponent for each team can be discerned – either through a school’s release or the process of elimination.
Duke was the eighth school to release its opponents, doing so this morning. That left only six holes in the following chart, which amounted to three games – all involving Maryland. So that made it pretty easy to finish things off.
|Boston College ||Georgia Tech||North Carolina || ||Florida State||Virginia Tech|
|Clemson||North Carolina||Wake Forest|| ||Duke||Maryland|
|Duke||Clemson||Georgia Tech||Florida State||Virginia|
|Florida State||Boston College ||Duke||Georgia Tech||Virginia Tech|
|Georgia Tech||Florida State||Maryland||Boston College||Duke|
|Maryland||Clemson||N.C. State||Georgia Tech||Miami|
|Miami||Maryland||Virginia||N.C. State||Wake Forest|
|North Carolina||Virginia Tech||Wake Forest||Boston College ||Clemson|
|N.C. State||Miami||Virginia Tech||Maryland||Virginia|
|Virginia||Duke||N.C. State||Miami||Wake Forest|
|Virginia Tech||Boston College||Florida State||North Carolina||N.C. State|
|Wake Forest||Miami||Virginia||Clemson||North Carolina |
The way-too-early preseason consensus is the three Triangle schools – Duke, North Carolina and N.C. State – will pace the league. The only schools to play only single games against two of them are Clemson, Virginia and Virginia Tech. The Hokies also get only one game against defending conference tournament champ Florida State.
On the flip side, Florida State might wind up with one of the tougher draws. The Seminoles will get still-young Boston College, rebuilding Georgia Tech and in-transition Virginia Tech just once apiece. North Carolina, with single games against Boston College, Clemson, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, might not have a single-game situation with anyone picked to finish in the top half of the conference.
