CHARLOTTESVILLE – Virginia will open the NCAA lacrosse tournament with a tweaked offensive lineup.
The Cavaliers have shifted junior Matt White from midfield to attack to take freshman Owen Van Arsdale’s place in the lineup. Mark Cockerton will start in the midfield in place of White this afternoon against Princeton.
White has 15 goals and 12 assists this season, and he started seven games on attack last year. He had eight goals and three assists in last year’s NCAA tournament.
Cockerton, who has played on Virginia’s second midfield line and extra-man unit, has 16 goals and five assists. He made four starts last season as a freshman.
Van Arsdale has eight goals and nine assists over 14 games this season, all starts. In his last 11 games, Van Arsdale has two goals and eight assists.
