Navy linebacker Matt Warrick and kicker Nick Sloan were among the honorees for the FBS independent player of the week awards thanks to their performance in the Midshipmen’s 28-21 overtime defeat of Air Force.

Warrick was named the defensive player of the week, while Sloan was named the special teams player of the week.

Warrick had 11 tackles, including two tackles for loss, in the victory. It is the third time Warrick earned the honor in his career

Sloan made field goals of 39 and 41 yards and connected on both of his extra points. It is the second straight week a Navy player won the special teams award; punter Pablo Beltran was honored for his performance against San Jose State.

The FBS independent awards honor players from Army, Brigham Young, Navy and Notre Dame.
