ANNAPOLIS – Injured Navy wide receiver Matt Aiken is unlikely to return for the Midshipmen’s game at Penn State on Saturday.

Aiken suffered a knee injury during a preseason scrimmage in early August. He wore a red medical jersey during practice Monday and did not participate in drills.

Coach Ken Niumatalolo had previously expressed optimism Aiken, who had 13 catches for 201 yards and two touchdowns last season, would be available this week after missing the opener against Notre Dame.

“Yeah, probably not,” Niumatalolo said. Monday. “Doc [Jeff Fair, Navy’s associate athletic director for sport medicine] was going to try him later this week, but we’ll see.”

Niumatalolo also said cornerback Jonathan Wev was “day-to-day” as he recovers from a concussion.
