Maryland tailback Brandon Ross, who won the starting job during camp but has yet to play because of a hamstring injury, is probable for Saturday’s game against Connecticut.

Albert Reid and Justus Pickett have started the first two games at tailback for the Terrapins. Pickett is listed as the starter this week.

It is not certain whether Ross’ probable availability will translate into an appearance this week.

“He practiced really well yesterday and we’ll see him again today,” coach Randy Edsall said. “I feel good. I don’t know where he’s going to be for this week, but I feel really good about next week.”

Edsall said Ross has remained a fixture in meetings since his injury. His conditioning is probably a greater concern at this stage.

“You have to go watch him on the scout team to see if he’s physically ready to go and what kind of condition he’s in because he hasn’t been doing a whole lot from that standpoint,” Edsall said.
