Despite being arrears in taxes and potentially in violation of license laws for being a plumber — or maybe because of that — some folks say Joe the Plumber, real name Joe Wurzelbacher, is needed in Congress.

Yes, has already been registered by Trevor Lair, chairman of the Massachusetts Alliance of College Republicans.

“Washington DC is broken and it needs to be fixed, Joe Wurzelbacher has a real-world perspective and the right attitude to clean up the mess on Capitol Hill,” Lair said. He wants to recruit Joe to run against Rep. Marcy Kaptur, a leader among progressive House Democrats.

Given Joe’s treatment during his first, unwitting foray into politics, here’s betting he takes a pass. Besides, if he does manage to buy the plumbing business, he might make more than members of Congress.
