The Caps are going through warm-ups right now … without a net to shoot at. This is one of the strangest things I’ve ever seen. The guys who are in charge of such things put the wrong nets out for warm-ups (there are practice nets and game nets), so with less than a minute before warm-ups, a guy came out and took them away.
Both teams came out … and had nothing to shoot at. So both teams were firing pucks off the boards behind where the goal is supposed to be. The Islanders got a replacement right away, but the Caps didn’t have one for almost five minutes.
Islanders captain Bill Guerin was actually the one who pointed out to the staff that there was no net at the other end of the ice, and then he was the one who skated the replacement cage down to the Caps.
