Leonsis Talks About the Defense

Earlier this week and prior to the Caps 7-4 loss in Atlanta, owner Ted Leonsis hinted that defense is one potential area of weakness for the team.

“When you look and do your review of the upcoming season, you say ‘these are the holes in this team,’” he told  reporters Tuesday. “We need a bone-jarring, clean out the crease defenseman. And who knows about the goaltending? So, we think we’ve got good goaltending. We’ll see. We’ve got two good really goaltenders in the system working their way up. And we think we’ve got a good defenseman in [Karl] Alzner who will make the team, [thought] he’s not the bone-jarring kid…we can always be better, but when you look and evaluate the team, it’s not like we have a lot of holes.”
