Yikes, That'll Silence a Crowd

The crowd was totally pumped. The Southeast Division Champion banner had just been raised. There was a rousing video montage set to Matchbox Twenty’s “How Far We’ve Come.”

But then the game started, and the Blackhawks Kris Versteeg slapped the puck by goalie Jose Theodore for the game’s first goal. The crowd went from frenetic to pretty silent, and there were even a few scattered boos.

 

For those interested, here’s a really horrible, blurry, pathetic photo of the new banner that I took with my camera phone.  It’s the low-hanging one. Not sure if you can read the lettering, but at least you get any idea of where it’s located.
