Clark OK, no practice

Chris Clark did not play in the final 6:45 last night. That was about the time that Alex Ovechkin nearly took his head off while trying to nail Jeff Carter.

Both Clark and Bruce Boudreau said he was not injured though. Clark said he was stunned, and it felt like he got blocked from the blindside in football, but he is OK and doesn’t expect to miss any time. Boudreau said Clark’s absence was a coach’s decision (Michael Nylander didn’t play in the last 5:30 of the third, either but did get a couple of shifts in OT).

No updates on the injured guys, who are on the ice now — except for Tom Poti, who is not. Either Tomas Fleischmann or Sergei Fedorov (or both) could be back Friday against Columbus. Fedorov’s return means the Caps’ pass with the salary cap is going to end. John Erskine’s salary still doesn’t count, but that isn’t enough to keep Karl Alzner on the roster. More on Karl in tomorrow’s paper.
