Several media outlets are reporting that Mike Knuble has signed a two-year deal with the Washington Capitals. It has not been confirmed by anyone in the Caps organization. He will make $2.8 million per year, according to the reports.
Knuble had 27 goals and 47 points for the Flyers last year. He is a veteran right wing who will stand in front of the net on the power play and might look pretty nice on the first line with Alex Ovechkin and Nicklas Backstrom.
UPDATED: It is a done deal. Knuble has been a durable guy, playing all 82 games four of the past five years. He’s averaged 27 goals the past four seasons, and has at least 10 power-play goals the past five years.
Knuble is also beloved around the league by other media members, and is considered a “great guy in the room.” He would probably be expected to fill a leadership role, especially with the Caps losing Sergei Fedorov.
