Tim Wharnsby of the Globe and Mail has reported the Caps are being considered for a potential game at Olympic Stadium in Montreal against the Canadiens in November.

The game at the stadium where the Expos used to play would be part of the ongoing centenial celebration for the Habs. The schedule comes out tomorrow, and it is not even definite that the game, against the Caps or any other team, will happen.

If the Caps were to be a part of this game, it wouldn’t be a bad consolation prize for not being a part of the outdoor game at Fenway Park — provided it doesn’t keep them playing in the Winter Classic in the next season or two. It has been reported that the Caps were a finalist to be Boston’s foe in this year’s game but NBC wanted the Phildelphia Flyers instead because of better local TV ratings.

UPDATE: Caps still haven’t heard anything from the league about the proposed game at Olympic Stadium.
