Two team sources have confirmed that Eric Fehr had two shoulder surgeries after the season ended for the Washington Capitals and his availability at the beginning of training camp could be in quesiton.
Fehr missed the final five games of the second-round series against the Pittsburgh Penguins because of the shoulder injury. He wasn’t sure if surgery would be needed on breakdown day.
Fehr had 12 goals and 25 points for the Caps this season, and he could see a larger role next season if Viktor Kozlov and Sergei Fedorov do leave for Russia depending on what the Caps do with free agency and trades. He is also a restricted free agent, so it should be an interesting summer for Fehr.
