Caps defenseman Mike Green was named one of the three Stars of the Month by the NHL today, along with Atlanta Thrashers left wing Ilya Kovalchuk and St. Louis Blues goaltender Chris Mason.
Green scored 20 points (nine goals and 11 assists) in 13 games during February to lead all defenseman and rank second in the league. He also set that NHL record for a defenseman by scoring a goal in eight consecutive games.
Speaking of Green: He recently was featured on the NHL Network’s “Day in the Life” program, which will re-air on Saturday, March 7 at 5:30 p.m. It was filmed two weeks ago before a game against the Florida Panthers (which went a little better than yesterday’s Florida game).
