Just spoke to Caps captain Chris Clark about the news of the day, and here is what he had to say. Clark is back home in New York for the summer.
“No, I mean in my whole [career] — this is my 11th year in professional hockey and even going back to at Clarkson and before that I’ve never seen or heard about anything like this,” he said. “I was surprised. It was kind of a weird … I don’t really know what motives for the guy were supposed to be.”
Also asked him about the potential long-term effects of this on the franchise. Even if the accusations prove to be false, there could still be people who associate the Caps with steroids in the future.
“Everything will come out, and I’m sure it will come out in our favor,” Clark said. “I don’t think [it will be a stigma]. I’m sure it will all come out clean. The way we’re tested — they are so strict on everything they test for. … It would be pretty hard for anybody to hide anything, so if you look at it I don’t think anybody’s name should be tarnished or anything.”
