Lady Gaga a towering presence at Obama fundraiser

President Nixon had Elvis, and now President Obama has had a face-to-face meeting with Lady Gaga.

An entertainer known for her bizarre costumes — she once wore a dress made of raw meat — Lady Gaga met Mr. Obama at a fundraiser Sunday night at the home of Facebook executive Sheryl Sandberg in Atherton, Calif. She met the president in the photo line and later urged him to make bullying a hate crime.

Supporters paid $35,800 per couple at the fundraiser.

The entertainer, whose real name is Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, entered the party “delicately walking on sky-high heels,” according to a pool reporter traveling with the president. The report said Lady Gaga “towered over everyone, a good 2 feet taller than” Mr. Obama.

No media photographers were allowed at the event — probably a good call by the president’s handlers.
