First lady Michelle Obama will conduct a tripleheader of visits to TV shows in New York on Wednesday on the second day of the Republican National Convention.

Mrs. Obama will appear on “Late Show With David Letterman,” set to air at 11:35 p.m. Eastern time — her third appearance on his show. She also will film appearances on “The Dr. Oz Show” and “Rachel Ray,” for segments that will air in September.

The White House said Mrs. Obama’s television blitz is “part of a back to school tour to discuss improvements to the federal guidelines for school lunches that go into effect this school year, and updates to the Presidential Youth Fitness Program.”

The president, meanwhile, is scheduled to complete a two-day campaign swing with a visit to Charlottesville, Va.

Incumbent presidents usually keep a low profile during the opposing party’s nominating convention, but the Obamas are maintaining an ambitious schedule of public appearances during the GOP gathering in Tampa, Fla.
