First lady just says no to 'kiss cam' — once

When the camera was on them Monday night, the president and first lady Michelle Obama didn’t kiss as is customary at sporting events.

The Obamas were attending the U.S.-Brazil men’s basketball game at the Verizon Center when they were featured on the arena’s “kiss cam” during the second quarter.

As do many a sports venue, the center shows couples on a giant screen during breaks in the action, intended as a prompt for the couples to kiss.

Mr. Obama had his arm around his wife at the time, and both smiled, but they didn’t kiss.

There were boos from the crowd.

With 4:47 left in the fourth quarter, the kiss cam came back around, and this time Mr. Obama put his arm around Michelle and gave her a big kiss, to the crowd’s delight.
