President Obama ordered U.S. flags to be flown at half-staff Friday to honor victims of the mass shooting at a movie theater in Aurora, Colo.

The president’s order is to remain in effect until sunset on Wednesday, and includes U.S. embassies.

Among other occasions during his presidency, Mr. Obama also ordered flags to be flown at half-staff in January 2011 after the shooting in Tucson, Ariz., that killed six people and wounded then-Rep. Gabrielle Giffords, Arizona Democrat.
