The Massachusetts Senate race remains one of the closest in the nation, with a new poll showing Republican Sen. Scott Brown and his Democratic opponent Elizabeth Warren running neck and neck in the widely watched race.

Mrs. Warren, a former Harvard professor and consumer affairs adviser to President Obama, led Mr. Brown 40 percent to 38 percent, barely edging him out in a poll conducted by MassPulse Quarterly of 500 adults between July 19 and 22.

She also held a two-point lead over Mr. Brown in the group’s April poll, 43 percent to 41 percent.

Both candidates have millions to spend, with the race on track to become one of the most expensive U.S. Senate races in history. While Mr. Brown has more funds on hand, Mrs. Warren has outraised him in every quarter since entering the race last fall.
