The U.S. Supreme Court may have decided one of its most high-profile cases in history when it upheld President Obama’s health care overhaul last month, but six in 10 Americans did not know there are nine justices on the court, according to a poll released Monday.
The 60 Minutes/Vanity Fair Poll found that four in 10 were able to correctly answer the question, while 60 percent answered six, seven, nine, 12, or that they didn’t know.
Meanwhile, just 14 percent were able to identify JP Morgan Chase CEO Jamie Dimon as a “New York Banker,” while nearly 70 percent did not know who he was. Others guessed he was a Texas Congressman, an X-Games Skateboarder, or a daredevil motorist.
The poll was conducted at the CBS News interviewing facility among a random sample of 990 adults nationwide, interviewed June 22-25 by telephone.
