The Republican National Committee’s political director said Thursday that the national party and presumptive presidential nominee Mitt Romney’s campaign had raised more than $100 million last month — surpassing their previous, and equally impressive, monthly hauls.
“Check this out bro, we raised north of $100 million in June. I’m assuming u & Axe will need beers 2night bro,” Rick Wiley said on Twitter, taunting President Obama’s campaign manager Jim Messina and top political adviser David Axelrod.
The jab comes after the Romney camp and the RNC raised more campaign donations than Mr. Obama and the Democratic National Committee in May by a $77 million to $60 million margin.
In April, the first month that team Romney and the RNC joined forces, they raised $40.1 million, almost matching the $43.6 million that Mr. Obama and the DNC.
The Romney campaign and the RNC did not immediately confirm the facts stated in Mr. Wiley’s tweet.
