RNC fundraising surpasses 2011

The Republican National Committee is a money-raising rock star this year. It has $60.8 million in cash on hand, raised $34.3 million in receipts this month and has generated contributions of $81.3 million so far in 2012, according to figures it reported to the Federal Election Commission on Wednesday.

By June 15, the GOP’s governing body and chief fundraising group led by Republican National Chairman Reince Priebus, had surpassed its entire 2011 fundraising number, raising more in six months than it had it all 12 months of last year, said RNC Communications Director Sean Spicer.

“Also, this was the best May ever in RNC history,” Mr. Spicer said.
