President Obama said he expects to cry Tuesday night while watching his wife, first lady Michelle Obama, speak at the Democratic National Convention.

“I’m going to be at home, and I’m going to be watching it with our girls,” Mr. Obama said at a campaign rally in Norfolk, Va. “And I’m going to try not to let them see their daddy cry. Because when Michelle starts talking, I start getting all misty.”

Many in the crowd responded to him with a unified, “Awwwww.”

Mr. Obama will travel to the convention in Charlotte, N.C., on Wednesday, and give his acceptance speech for the party’s renomination Thursday night.
