Thursday will be an emotional roller coaster for President Obama and first lady Michelle.

In the morning, the first couple is scheduled to participate in the festive opening of former President George W. Bush’s Library and Museum at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. That afternoon, they plan to attend the memorial service for those lost and injured in last week’s deadly explosion at the fertilizer plant in Waco, Texas.

Mr. Obama’s attendance at the grand opening of the Bush library has been planned for months, and White House spokesman said Monday the president added the memorial at Baylor University to his itinerary over the weekend.

In addition, Mr. Obama plans to spend Wednesday night at a fundraiser for the Democratic National Committee in Dallas.
