Flirtatious Obama praises 'best-looking' attorney general

During a fundraiser Thursday in California, President Obama raised some eyebrows by praising state Attorney General Kamala Harris for her looks.

A pool reporter traveling with Mr. Obama noted that the president gave a shout-out to Ms. Harris, “noting a couple of times that she is, objectively, easy on the eyes.”

“She’s brilliant and she’s dedicated, she’s tough. … She also happens to be, by far, the best-looking attorney general,” Mr. Obama said. When the audience laughed, he added, “It’s true! C’mon.”

Ms. Harris, 48, is part African-American, part Asian-American and part native American. She was elected attorney general in 2010 after serving as district attorney in San Francisco. She has been mentioned as a possible nominee for a seat on the U.S. Supreme Court, should a seat open up during Mr. Obama’s second term.
