Democratic strategist James Carville, the Ragin’ Cajun, has an opinion of why Virginia Attorney General Ken Cuccinelli is losing ground in the polls in his race against Terry McAuliffe in the state’s gubernatorial race.
“He is pretty out there,” Mr. Carville said Friday on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. “I think he is scaring people.”
A recent Public Policy Polling survey showed that Mr. McAuliffe, who made his name in the Democratic party as a fundraiser, holds a 44 percent to 37 percent lead over Mr. Cuccinelli, who served in the Virginia Senate from 2002 to 2010 and was elected attorney general in the 2009 election.
The poll also showed that voters don’t have a high opinion of either candidate, giving Mr. Cuccinelli a 54 percent unfavorable rating and Mr. McAuliffe a 48 percent unfavorable rating.
A Quinnipiac University poll, released last week, showed that Mr. McAuliffe holds a 48 percent to 42 percent lead over Mr. Cuccinelli among likely voters.
