Sen. Cory Booker, New Jersey Democrat, says he won’t run for president in 2016.

And he’s willing to stake a roll of chocolate chip cookie dough on it.

The freshman senator and former mayor of Newark is known for frequently engaging directly with many of his 1.4 million Twitter followers.

On Wednesday evening, one of them tweeted, “I predict in 2016 @CoryBooker will run for President.”

Five minutes later, Mr. Booker tweeted back, “I bet you a roll of chocolate chip cookie dough I won’t!”

As The Hill points out, the food-related thoughts might have had to do with Mr. Booker’s Wednesday announcement that he would participate in a 24-hour fast in support of immigration reform.

The Capitol Hill newspaper also pointed to a response from Mr. Booker in June of this year to another follower.

“There is goodness within you, Cory Booker,” @LeightonDumas tweeted.

“And cookie dough ice cream,” Mr. Booker replied.
