House tears down Obama 'failometer'

Rep. Steve Stockman, a conservative Texas Republican, said Tuesday that House officials have banned him from posting a billboard tracking President Obama’s failures in office.

Mr. Stockman announced the “failometer” on Monday, posting the 10-foot-long billboard on the wall of the corridor outside his congressional office. His opening score rated Mr. Obama a failure rate of 1,194 — on a scale of 1 to 1,000.

By Tuesday, Mr. Stockman said the billboard had been nixed.

“I am disappointed House officials ordered it torn down. No one should be offended by frank, objective economic statistics,” the congressman said.

Other congressional offices have posted data such as the U.S. debt on easels outside of their congressional offices, but Mr. Stockman’s was attached to the wall by adhesive tape.
