White House won't comment on Beyonce's lip-sync

The White House is trying to play down reports about Beyonce’s lip-syncing the national anthem as trivial news with no real impact.

President Obama’s spokesman, Jay Carney, said he had “no idea” whether the pop diva actually sang “The Star-Spangled Banner” or not, and he wouldn’t say whether Mr. Obama was aware of her plans to fake sing when he asked her to play such a key role in his inaugural.

“I really don’t think it’s an important issue to address from the podium here,” he told reporters at Wednesday’s press briefing. “I’m glad you guys are focused on the important issues of the day.”
