Calling it the “one gun Obama doesn’t want you to have,” Rep. Steve Stockman’s 2014 campaign is raffling off a military-style rifle on Independence Day.

The Bushmaster AR-15 rifle, up for grabs through an online sweepstakes, is a jab at President Obama’s effort to reform gun laws in the wake of the December shooting in Newtown, Conn., that left 20 school children and six adults dead.

Sen. Lindsey Graham, South Carolina Republican, noted during the gun debate that he owns an AR-15, a popular firearm that’s been called an “assault weapon” by some, although proponents of gun rights object to that label.

Mr. Stockman’s campaign website features a photo of the rifle and says, “Enter the drawing to win a FREE Bushmaster AR-15 rifle, almost impossible to find in stores and the number one firearm on the gun banners’ wish list!”

The sweepstakes stipulates that entrants must be at least 18 years old and that the firearm must be claimed through a licensed firearms dealer. The winner will also be subject to a dealer’s background check.

This is not the first time Mr. Stockman, a Texas Republican, has needled Mr. Obama over guns and other top issues for conservatives. His campaign offers a bumper sticker that reads, “If babies had guns, they wouldn’t be aborted.”
