On Father's Day, Obama attends daughter's recital

← return to Inside Politics

President Obama spent part of his Father’s Day attending a dance performance by his younger daughter, Sasha.

Mr. Obama, first lady Michelle Obama and their elder daughter, Malia, took a motorcade from the White House with other guests Sunday afternoon to the Music Center at Strathmore in North Bethesda, where Sasha was performing. En route to the event, the multivehicle caravan with lights flashing caused momentary delays on the Capital Beltway between the George Washington Parkway and Interstate 270.

On Sunday evening, the president and his family are departing on Air Force One on a trip to Northern Ireland, where Mr. Obama is to attend a Group of Eight summit on Monday and Tuesday.
