Holder says 'no intention' to conduct drone executions in U.S.

Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. told Congress Wednesday the federal government has “no intention” of using drones to strike at targets within the U.S., saying it’s easier to capture people here so that tool is not as important.

Mr. Holder, testifying to the Senate Judiciary Committee, didn’t rule out those kinds of strikes on U.S. territory, but said he doubted it would happen.

“The use of drones is from my perspective something that is entirely, entirely hypothetical,” he said.

Under close scrutiny later in the hearing, he said it would be unconstitutional to target a U.S. citizen within the country for lethal force if that person doesn’t pose an imminent threat.
