CONCORD, N.H. — Kicking off his remarks at a New Hampshire GOP dinner, Sen. Rand Paul assured the crowd gathered in a ballroom here that he’s on their side when it comes to securing their southern border.

“I don’t think there is any reason why we can’t have a fence because we have to keep those people from Massachusetts out,” the Kentucky said, sparking laughter and applause from the hundreds in attendance.

Jokes aside, Mr. Paul says that he wants to support immigration reform, but that he will only support a bill in the Senate if it provides assurances that the US-Mexican border is secured.
