Another Dem eyes Obamacare deadline extension

Rep. John Yarmuth, Kentucky Democrat, said the Obama administration may need to look at extending the deadline to sign up for health care under the new health care law if the sign-up website Healthcare.gov is not fixed by Nov. 30.

“Obviously there is a political risk here if the site is not fixed, if people don’t have access to the information and the federal exchange,” he said Friday on MSNBC. “But I’m confident that these problems are going to get fixed. If they don’t get fixed by Nov 30, that’s a real problem and we might have to look at extending” the deadline.

In his home state, which set up its own online exchange, more than 30,000 people have enrolled in the first month. Mr.Yarmuth said working on a state-run exchange is must less complicated since you’re only dealing with one state and one set of insurance rules.

“In those states where the administration embraced the program, it’s been very successful,” he said.
