President Obama on Thursday night will host a private screening of a new film on the life and political career of former South African President Nelson Mandela.

The screening will be held in the White House. Attendees have not yet been announced.

The movie — “Mandela: Long Walk To Freedom” — is based on the 95-year-old’s autobiography, released in 1994.

Mr. Obama frequently has spoken of his admiration for Mr. Mandela, the first black South African to serve as that nation’s president.

Mr. Mandela reportedly is in fair health after an 86-day hospital stay earlier this year for treatment of a respiratory illness.
