Sen. Johnny Isakson, Georgia Republican, said he will support back pay for federal workers who are not allowed to work during the government shutdown.

“They shouldn’t be injured. It wasn’t there fault that we shut down,” he said Wednesday on MSNBC’s “The Daily Rundown.”

While Mr. Isakson said that “there’s no endgame in sight,” he also said he doesn’t think the shutdown will last as long as some are predicting.

“I really believe it won’t go as long as a lot of people are thinking because the pressure will ratchet up back home,” he said. “It may happen sooner than you think.”
