Republicans see Hillary Clinton as their biggest Democratic threat in the 2016 presidential race, according to one Republican strategist.
“This is going to be hell on wheels,” Noelle Nikpour said on MSNBC on Monday. “I think Hillary Clinton poses the biggest threat against us, the GOP, and whoever we’re going to put up.”
Ms. Nikpour said she believes a race against Mrs. Clinton would draw a lot of fundraising dollars and be a $2 billion race.
So who would Republicans like to run against? Ms. Nikpour said Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Massachusetts Democrat, would be a much easier candidate to beat because of how far left she is.
As long as Mrs. Clinton is still considering a 2016 run, Ms. Nikpour said Republicans will continue to talk about decisions during her tenure as secretary of state that may have lead to the Benghazi attack in 2012.
“If you don’t think Republicans are going to hammer her if she runs in 2016, you’re out of your mind,” she said. “Of course we’re going to keep hammering this, it was a huge debacle.”
