Texas Gov. Rick Perry tries to lure business from Maryland

Never shy about poaching business from other states, Texas Gov. Rick Perry has set his sights on Maryland.

The outspoken Republican, who loves to boast about the Lone Star State’s dearth of regulations and surging economic growth, is launching ads in Maryland that attack the Democrat-led state as a job killer.

His effort follows up attempts to lure businesses from Missouri and New York, according to a WJLA report.

“When you grow tired of Maryland taxes squeezing every dime out of your business, think Texas,” Mr. Perry says. “Unfortunately, your governor has made Maryland the tax-and-fee state, where businesses pay some of the highest taxes in America. That’s a job killer.”

WJLA quoted local business owners who more or less agree with Mr. Perry, although Maryland Gov. Martin O’Malley said the state is “doing just fine.”
