White House sets Obama-Netanyahu meeting

In their first meeting since the issue of Syria’s chemical weapons came to a head, President Obama will host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House on Sept. 30, the White House said Tuesday.

“The president looks forward to discussing with Prime Minister Netanyahu the progress on final status negotiations with the Palestinians, as well as developments in Iran, Syria and elsewhere in the region,” White House press secretary Jay Carney said.

Mr. Netanyahu last week expressed cautious optimism about a tentative framework negotiated by the U.S. and Russia to place Syria’s chemical weapons under international control.
