Boehner plans spending bill that defunds Obamacare

House Speaker John A. Boehner said Wednesday that the chamber will pass a resolution this week to continue funding the government but to deny any funds to implement President Obama’s new health care law.

“The law is a train wreck. The president has protected American big business. It’s time to protect American families from this unworkable law,” Mr. Boehner, Ohio Republican, said at a press conference Wednesday morning.

Just last week, the White House said it would not accept any short-term spending deal — a “continuing resolution” — that impedes the rollout of the Affordable Care Act.

A Fox News poll released yesterday found that almost seven out of 10 voters polled said they were concerned about the new health care law. More than half of those polled also said they wanted to go back to 2009, before Obamacare was enacted.
