Mystics forward Crystal Langhorne took a few moments to talk about some of the new teammates she’ll be playing with this season, and the improvements she’s made in her own game.

On center Nicky Anosike:

“Nicky [Anosike] is a great post player to have. She can pass, she can score, she can defend. Her main thing is defense and rebounding. When you have a post player like that who plays with such high intensity, it makes you want to play with high intensity on defense, so she’s only going to help me become a better player.”

On rookie guard Jasmine Thomas:

“Jasmine’s defense is really going to help us, playing back-up point guard. Her aggressiveness on the offensive end will help. She’s a great player to have.”

On point guard Kelly Miller:

“Kelly Miller is always steady. In the past two [preseason] games she’s been pretty consistent. Having her as our point guard; she’s going to help lead us. She played great the first two games.”

Langhorne also talked about her own preparation for the upcoming season.

On her outside shooting:

“I haven’t changed anything; I’ve just tried to be more confident. If I miss a shot, then I get it again, I’m going to shoot it again. Sometimes I tried to do that last year. This year, I’m really going to be looking for my shot more.”

On her improving her game:

“I think I’ve worked game, my ball handling, using my right hand. I continue to work on my shooting and my footwork. I did a lot of stuff to work on my running form and try to get better defensively and improving my lateral quickness. That’s what I’m working on.”
