Zimmerman out for Mets finale: today's lineup

← return to Nationals Watch

NEW YORK — Ryan Zimmerman is not in the Nationals lineup for their series finale with the Mets this afternoon, giving a new look to the lineup. Rick Ankiel will bat second with Jayson Werth sliding into the three-hole in Zimmerman’s place. Alex Cora, playing third, drops down to eighth, moving Danny Espinosa and Ivan Rodriguez up in the lineup.

It could just be a day off for Zimmerman, who has played every game for the Nationals to start the season, but Zimmerman also slid head first into second base last night and came up shaking his left hand quite a bit. The trainers came out to see him but he stayed in the game. It’s pure speculation on my part, but the day off could be related.

Here are the full lineups:

Nationals:

Ian Desmond SS
Rick Ankiel CF
Jayson Werth RF
Adam LaRoche 1B
Michael Morse LF
Danny Espinosa 2B
Ivan Rodriguez C
Alex Cora 3B
Jason Marquis P

Mets:

Jose Reyes SS
Willie Harris LF
David Wright 3B
Ike Davis 1B
Angel Pagan CF
Lucas Duda RF
Brad Emaus 2B
Josh Thole C
Chris Young P
