I’m filling in tonight for our Nationals beat writer, Amanda Comak, who is taking a well-deserved day off.

Onto the lineups, as Adam LaRoche returns to first base and the cleanup spot after missing Tuesday’s opener. LaRoche tweaked the left side of his groin Sunday and wasn’t pleased to sit.

“He was real sour,” manager Jim Riggleman said of the reaction to sitting out. “He’s OK. He’s a little tender. But certainly not 100 percent.”

LaRoche told Riggleman he’s dealt with a more serious version of this injury before and knows how to play without making it worse.

“We hope that’s the case,” Riggleman said. “There may be a situation where he’s got to exert quite a bit and we hope he can tone it down enough where he doesn’t pull something there.”
