Today's Nationals lineup

PITTSBURGH — The tarp is on the field and the rain has been coming down all day but it’s been relatively light. The forecast, however, doesn’t bode well as it’s supposed to rain throughout much of the night.

Should the Nationals and Pirates play tonight, Nationals right-hander Livan Hernandez will be making his 450th consecutive start, an incredible mark for the durable veteran who has never once been on the disabled list in his 13-plus years in major league baseball.

The Nationals will need to make a roster move before tonight’s game and that move is presumably that Brian Bixler will be added to the 40-man roster and someone will have to go to make room for him. That’s just speculation, though, at this point and the Nationals will most likely hold off on making a move until they’re sure tonight’s game will be played.

The 25-man roster is currently at 24 after they sent Jesus Flores back to Triple-A so Bixler could be used to fill that spot but he could also be on hand for if and when Ian Desmond’s wife, Chelsey, goes into labor with the couple’s first child and the shortstop takes paternity leave.

Here are the full lineups, weather permitting:

Nationals:

Danny Espinosa 2B
Rick Ankiel CF
Jayson Werth RF
Adam LaRoche 1B
Wilson Ramos C
Michael Morse LF
Ian Desmond SS
Jerry Hairston Jr. 3B
Livan Hernandez P

Pirates:

Andrew McCutchen CF
Jose Tabata LF
Lyle Overbay 1B
Neil Walker 2B
Garrett Jones RF
Ryan Doumit C
Pedro Alvarez 3B
Ronny Cedeno SS
Jeff Karstens P
