CHICAGO — Some interesting symmetry for Ross Detwiler, the Nationals starter tonight, as he takes the mound for his second straight start, looking for his first-ever road win against the team he made his first major league start of the season against.

Got all that?

Detwiler had been toiling in Triple-A with mixed results until a doubleheader forced the Nationals to need a spot starter on Tuesday, July 5 against Chicago at Nationals Parl. They called him up and, with Nationals manager Davey Johnson desiring a long man for the ‘pen, kept him around. Last week they decided to try him out in the rotation again, shifting Tom Gorzelanny to the bullpen instead.

Detwiler made his first start in a month Thursday evening in Colorado and tossed five innings, allowing two earned runs off five hits and three walks but got the loss in a 6-3 Rockies victory. He’ll take the mound at Wrigley Field tonight looking for his elusive first road victory.

The lineup behind him is pretty standard with hot-hitting Jonny Gomes getting his fourth straight start and Laynce Nix remaining on the bench. Wilson Ramos also gets a day off (on his 24th birthday) as Jesus Flores starts and Ramos will presumably play the day game tomorrow.

Here are the lineups behind Detwiler, and Cubs starter Rodrigo Lopez:

Rick Ankiel CF
Danny Espinosa 2B
Ryan Zimmerman 3B
Michael Morse 1B
Jayson Werth RF
Jonny Gomes LF
Ian Desmond SS
Jesus Flores C
