Jim Riggleman set to manage at Double-A for Reds organization

← return to Nationals Watch

Former Nationals manager Jim Riggleman has found his next career landing spot. After an abrupt resignation that ended his Nationals tenure this past June, Riggleman scouted for the San Francisco Giants for the second half of the 2011 season. Now, a source has confirmed, he will get back into uniform as the manager of the Pensacola Blue Wahoos, Cincinnati’s Double-A affiliate.

The Nationals were 140-172 under Riggleman’s stewardship from the time he took over for Manny Acta in 2009 until his resignation on June 23 this past season — a decision that came in the midst of an 8-1 homestand and during a month of June that saw the Nationals go 17-10 and win eight straight from June 10-18. Riggleman resigned due to unhappiness with the state of his contract.
