ATLANTA — The grounds crew here at Turner Field is currently painting a giant 10,000 into the outfield grass — signifying that last night’s Braves’ victory over the Nationals was the 10,000th major league win for the franchise. They’re doing so behind a stage set up on top of second base for the B-52s to rehearse for their postgame concert tonight.

Needless to say, it’s been an interesting afternoon at Turner Field already and I can’t imagine the Nationals, who were perturbed by the infield conditions Friday night, were all too thrilled to see a stage setup on it early this afternoon.

At any rate, the Nationals will look to improve their second-half record to 1-1 tonight when they send John Lannan to the mound for the first time since he took a liner off his face last Saturday and left the game immediately. Lannan escaped relatively unscathed and is not even visibly bruised so that is the good news. The next step will be him getting back on a mound and facing live hitters for the first time since the incident, though Lannan seemed unconcerned about any fear.

Laynce Nix gets a rest tonight presumably as he still continues to manage some right Achilles soreness and Roger Bernadina starts in left field in his place with Rick Ankiel in center.

Here are the full lineups behind Lannan and Braves starter Tommy Hanson:
