LOS ANGELES — Nationals left-hander Tom Gorzelanny will make his scheduled start on Saturday, despite suffering a sprained ankle and leaving after just two innings in his previous outing in Atlanta on Sunday.

Gorzelanny said Wednesday he felt he was healthy enough to make the start but with the Nationals off day on Thursday it would have been very simple for them to skip him or at least push him back. Nationals manager Davey Johnson hinted at doing as much on Wednesday when asked about the healthy of his pitcher but Gorzelanny convinced both Johnson and the training staff that he was ready to go.

He’ll face left-hander Ted Lilly Saturday night at Dodger Stadium.
