Nix sits, Werth hits fifth: today's lineups

← return to Nationals Watch

Laynce Nix is out of the Nationals lineup today which means that the Jayson Werth hits sixth idea has lasted all of one day, so far. Most likely it’s just a routine day off for Nix but we’ll find out for sure when we head down to the clubhouse shortly.

Either way, it moves Werth back into the No. 5 spot that manager Davey Johnson said he envisions him hitting out of. It seems like the Cubs have been here for a year but this is officially the final game of the teams’ four-game series and the Nationals have a chance for their first four-game sweep of the season.

Livan Hernandez is on the mound for the Nationals and Matt Garza will start for the Cubs.

Here are the full lineups:

Nationals:

Roger Bernadina LF
Danny Espinosa 2B
Ryan Zimmerman 3B
Michael Morse 1B
Jayson Werth RF
Rick Ankiel CF
Ivan Rodriguez C
Ian Desmond SS
Livan Hernandez P

Cubs:

Kosuke Fukudome RF
Starlin Castro SS
Aramis Ramirez 3B
Carlos Pena 1B
Geovany Soto C
